The Mid-Shore Community Foundation was established on
December 8, 1992 by The United Fund of Talbot County.
The Mid-Shore Community Foundation supports nonprofit organizations in the counties of Kent, Queen Anne, Caroline, Talbot and Dorchester.
United Fund had inherited $236,000 from Col. Edgar Linthicum and his wife Catherine. The funds were to be used "for the benefit, aid and assistance of the most worthy cases, in Talbot County, either charitable institutions or needy and deserving residents." Recognizing the need for an organziation to manage charitable endowments, the United Fund Directors voted to use the Linthicum bequest as founding gift to the Foundation.
In 2002, the Bullitt House was generously donated to the Mid-Shore Community Foundation by the following individuals.
• Mr. & Mrs. Nicholas Brady
• Mr. & Mrs. A. James Clark
• Mr. & Mrs. NWilliam Hunter
